Itinerary Summary

Seniors vacation safari is specifically designed for seniors who enjoy out door adventures. Children are not allowed on this safari package. Seniors will decide what they prefer and each case will be treated different. You will visit the world-famous Kenya national parks and watch the wildlife surprisingly close, this time, at your leisure. What makes the seniors safari packages special is that they are exclusively for you, the senior member. You will not have other age brackets with you, unless it is your family. Because of this, you will not have unnecessary noise on your holiday and this makes it even more fulfilling. The quiet atmosphere will be at a maximum, giving you quality time on your holiday vacation. The walks are very gentle and highly recommended to give you some moments to stretch. Not only that, to make your African dream come true, you will have a professional driver guide with proven expertise to handle your specific safari package. He will be there to answer any questions you may have on flora, fauna and culture.

Itinerary Description

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi.
This road safari starts in Nairobi.  On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International airport, you will be met by our Company representative and escorted to settle into theSarova Pan Afric hotel. Time allowing, an afternoon orientation drive takes you through Kenya's capital to the areas of Karen Blixen's farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills. Visit the fascinating museum dedicated to the author of Out of Africa; feed the gentle Rothschild's Giraffes at the Giraffe Centre; finally, admire authentic African art and crafts at Utamanduni.

Dinner in the hotel and short briefing of the guided safari.  

Accommodation is on double room sharing, bed and breakfast basis.

Day 2: Nairobi – Aberdares National park
After breakfast, depart Nairobi and drive north to Kenya’s central highlands through pineapple, coffee, and sisal plantations to the lower slopes of the Aberdares arriving at your base hotel, the Outspan hotel for lunch.  You leave your main luggage at the base hotel and continue with just an overnight bag to one of the famous "tree hotels", deep in the Aberdares Forest. 

This world-renowned rustic tree hotel is dedicated to game viewing whilst the tree hotels which overlook waterholes and salt lick offer great wildlife viewing in the evening.  Children under 7 years of age are not allowed at the Tree hotels. 

Different species of animals are active during the night compared with during the day and many shy species such as rhinos will only approach the lodge at night. It is fascinating to watch their behaviour around the watering hole as they take turns in drinking from the watering hole and eating the salt which is put out for them at the 'salt lick'.  On a clear morning a spectacular view towards jagged outline of Mount Kenya can be seen.

Day 3: Mt. Aberdare N Park – Samburu Game Reserve
Transfer back to the Outspan for breakfast and early departure for Samburu game reserve. Cross the equator on the way to the Northern foothills of Mount Kenya, a 17,058-foot dormant volcano with a glistening cap of ice and snow. Proceed to the grassland area which forms the bridge between Kenya's lush south and parched north.   You enter the park in time for lunch. Check in at your hotel followed by an afternoon game drive.

All meals and overnight at Samburu Sopa  lodge / Elephant Bedroom Camp.  Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 4 & 5: Samburu Game Reserve
2 full days of game viewing which starts early at dawn, when animals are most active, and in the late morning and afternoon, when the light is best for photography. Early morning and afternoon game drives. 

In Samburu you are sure to see elephants, warthogs and buffalo, which can be seen in many of Kenya's parks, but the park is famous for animals not found in other areas. These include the Grevy's Zebra, which has much narrower and more numerous stripes than the common (Burchell's) zebra. Samburu is also home to the third of Kenya's giraffe species - the Reticulated Giraffe. 

This is also your best chance to see the blue-legged Somali Ostrich, the long-necked Gerenuk gazelle and the straight-horned Beisa Oryx antelope. Down by the river you may see crocodiles and hippos, as well as many beautiful birds. 

Dinner and overnight at a Samburu Sopa lodge / Elephant Bedroom Camp. Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 6 & 7: Samburu Game Reserve-Lake Nakuru
After breakfast depart Samburu and then make your way down the eastern escarpment of the magnificent Rift Valley. After lunch take a leisurely drive through Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its pink flamingoes.

Drive to the edges of the lake to view thousands of birds feeding in the alkaline water; see the sweeping view from the top of Baboon Rocks; then look for warthogs and waterbucks as you leave the park.

Lake Nakuru national park offers a truly remarkable game drive that includes the rare white rhino in this world famous ornithological paradise with over 450 species of bird life. A shimmering hot-pink glow emanates across the lake, created by millions of flamingos. Pelicans, cormorants and Marabou storks also feed on the abundant algae in the warm, shallow alkaline waters.

Lake Nakuru National Park is a sanctuary for endangered black rhinos and White Rhino as well as the Rothschild giraffes. Waterbucks are common here, as are their predators, lions and leopards.

Day 8: Lake Nakuru-Maasai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara traversing the Rift Valley and ascend its western rim. You're now in Maasai country, where sedentary crop farming gives way to nomadic cattle herding. Red-clad, spear-wielding Maasai warriors tend their multi-colored herds among the wild animals of the Loita Plains, admirably unimpressed by the presence of large predators.

Day 9: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Dawn, morning and afternoon game drives in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya's best and most scenic game park. At the northern extremity of the unique Serengeti ecosystem, blessed with a permanent water supply, the Maasai Mara has a thriving, permanent population of plains game, augmented in the dry season by the migration of more than 3 million gnus and zebras from the vast, parched Serengeti plains.

Of the hunter's "big five," elephants, buffalos, lions, and leopard are quite common, while even the much rarer rhino might come out of the thicket for you. Hyenas are plentiful and the cheetahs, 60-miles-per-hour daytime hunters are often seen.

Day 10: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Game viewing/Photography: Sunrise and sundown are the greatest moments for game viewing in these mystic plains, a time where the soft red hues of the sun will give you an added natural richness to your photographs with the clarity of the actual African savannah. Morning game viewing with long drive to the Mara River where you will be able to view Hippos and giant Crocodiles. This will be followed by resting time and later an afternoon game viewing-drive.

Day 11: Maasai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast say 'Kwaheri' - a Swahili word for bye to Maasai Mara and leisurely drive back to Nairobi, arriving at around late afternoon. Time allowing or if not too tired, you may want to check out the capital's excellent shops or simply relax by the pool. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner at the most famous of African barbeque restaurant, The Carnivore.

Day 12: Nairobi – Departure
Depending on your flight schedule you may have time to visit the renowned National Museum, have a day at leisure or shopping in Nairobi. If your flight leaves late, your room will be available until around 6.00.pm.


Optional balloon safari at extra cost

0630 hrs- Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable
