Itinerary Summary This 4 days safari features the three most popular northern park in Tanzania starting at Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, which is Tanzania's oldest park, and one of the world's last great wildlife refuges . It shares the same ecosystem with Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve and stretches as far as Lake Victoria to the West. Serengeti name comes from the Maasai word Siringet, meaning 'endless plains' then Ngorongoro the largest crater in the world.
Itinerary Description
Day 1:Arusha-Lake Manyara
Depart Arusha and drive to Lake manyara via Mto-wa-mbu Village. Lake Manyara National Park is the cleavage known as the Great Rift Valley and can be identified from space as the most distinctive feature of the continent. The seam of this cleavage has developed a series of fascinating and beautiful lakes. The variety of habitats parallels its exceptional scenery at there are zebras, buffalos, wildebeests, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, hippos and tree-climbing lions with picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at L.Manyara Hotel/Serena Lodge. Approx transit time: 2½ hrs
Day 2:Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast drive to Serengeti with picnic lunch, game viewing en route to the campsite or the lodge in the mid afternoon. It is possible to view all the big five. Animals here are seen in very large herds, especially wildebeest, zebra gazelle and other antelopes. The park is one of the largest in the world; it's animal concentration and abundance is unequalled. The annual migration of wildebeest and zebra occurs in this park in May/June. In the parks central plains there are carnivores like Lion, Leopard, hyenas and cheetah. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Wildlife/Sopa Lodge. Approx transit time: 4 hrs Meal Plan: B, L, D
Day 3: Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro
Early morning game drive in Serengeti, return to lodge for b/fast and relaxation, Later, with picnic lunch drive via Olduvai Gorge for a short visit of the museum. Olduvai Gorge was made famous by the Leakey family who began their paleontological excavations here in 1931. Abundant fossil material dating back more that a million years, including hominid remains of Zinjanthropes bossei, have been discovered here later to arrive at Ngorongoro Wildlife/Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 4: Ngorongoro-Arusha
After breakfast, descend down to the crater floor for ½ day crater tour. Ngorongoro Crater is quite unique as its physical protection from man natural beauty rank it among the most pristine wilderness on earth. It is regarded as a natural wonder of the world and has been declared a World Heritage Site. It is the largest intact crater in the world, being 610 metres deep, 16 kilometers across and covering an area of 540 square kilometres. On the crater floor, is a haven for wildlife, including the greatest predator population in Africa. The volcanic crater is jam-packed with wildlife, including all the big game. Its pride and joy however is that it remains the last great world refuge for black Rhino. Later in the afternoon return to Arusha with Picnic lunch. Approx transit time: 4 hrs Meal Plan: B, L, D
